  • Question: I'm not really sure what you mean by the comment you added on my photo. I try not to be a Tolkien-hipster, but I have been reading him since I was 9 and I enjoy making edits based on all his works, even the ones that haven't been made into movies. I just happened to like this quote from the Hobbit forward because I thought it described the Professor so well. - ohrowanmine

Oh, no, no, I love your post! What I said was a response to a lot of stuff I’ve been seeing on my own dash of people going nuts over the “hot” actors in the Hobbit movie. I had actually searched “tolkien” looking for posts that were genuinely about loving Tolkien’s work as opposed to the tumblr-fan-craziness prevalent elsewhere. I apologize if I offended you!

Because tumblr didn’t care about the Hobbit until they made a movie about it.

The nice thing about tumblr is that I can come back here after a long hiatus, see a couple posts, and realize, “Oh well, at least I’m not as crazy as these lunatics.” Nice confidence booster. :D

Blunt the knives, bend the forks,
Smash the bottles and burn the corks,
Chip the glasses and crack the plates!
That’s what Bilbo Baggins hates!

Cut the cloth and tread the fat,
Leave the bones on the bedroom mat,
Pour the milk on the pantry floor,
Splash the wine on every door!

Dump the crocks in a boiling bowl,
Pound them up with a thumping pole,
And when you’ve finished if any are whole,
Send them down the hall to roll!

Like if you got the casts of Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Sherlock, etc. together, the whole of tumblr would have a collective aneurysm/orgasm. Yikes.

Whatever happened to enjoying a series without having to worship literally every single aspect of its being? Take it easy, tumblr. Take it easy.
